• Driving range tee renovation - the tee will be resurfaced with a "fairway cut" bluegrass that should prove to be more durable. The rear of the tee has also been expanded and an artificial tee line to accomodate practice when the turf surface is not growing or too wet, etc. Drainage lines have also been added.
• Fairway drainage - 1600 feet of drainage will be installed to speed up removal of excess water on fairways.
• Fairway topdressing will be performed to assist in drying our wetter fairway areas.
• Proposed construction of seasonal housing for immigrant laborers.
• Master Plan and As-Built Plan completion.
• Additional ThorGuard warning station.
• Opening of the new comfort station.
• Additional installation of surge suppression devices to prevent lightning damage.

Baker Hill Tree Improvements - Firewood Project
|
|
Some of the trees that line our fairways have succumbed to stresses and injuries associated with the construction of the course. We call it Backhoe Disease. Each winter the staff removes dead and dying trees from the course and the maintenance department sells the cordwood generated by this process. The wood is sold cheaply and profits made are put into the employee outing fund. Last year we were able to take 25 staff members on a bus to Fenway Park to catch a night game again the Baltimore Orioles! Yes, we had nosebleed seats but are hoping we can do better this year!

Winter Ice... an annual threat
|
|
| These photos indicate that we do have an ice layer on our greens. We have been clearing the snow off prior to winter thawing. Black oiled sunflower seeds are also spread to melt pinholes in the ice. |
| Turf blankets help prevent winter wind dessication and promote rapid spring green-up. This should not be construed as an avenue for an earlier opening and is not a guarantee of avoiding winter damage. |
